TL;DR: Alien Space Lasers is a simple arcade game that stores your game progress and settings locally on your device. Online features, including your pilot name, the global leaderboard, Versus Challenges, in-app feedback, and gameplay analytics, are stored in Google Cloud Firestore. We use Google AdMob for ads, which may collect some data for ad serving.

2. Information We Collect

Information Stored Locally

Alien Space Lasers stores the following data locally on your device only:

  • Game Progress: Your current level, score, and lives
  • Leaderboard Data: Your top 20 game sessions (score, level reached, planets visited, date, and time played)
  • Settings: Sound and music preferences
  • Tutorial Status: Whether you’ve completed the tutorial
  • Statistics: Total games played

This data is stored locally using iOS UserDefaults. Online features send some game data off your device, as described below.

Information Stored Online

Alien Space Lasers uses Google Cloud Firestore, a Google service, to run its online features. The following data is sent from the game and stored there:

  • Pilot Name: The name you choose, which is reserved for you and shown to other players
  • Global Leaderboard: Your pilot name, level reached, targets collected, continues used, time played, and date
  • Versus Challenges: Challenge names and codes, creator and best-score pilot names, scores, levels reached, attempts, and the level and gameplay data needed to replay a challenge
  • In-App Feedback: The message and category you submit, your pilot name, the app version, and the time
  • Gameplay Analytics: Game events such as starting a game, completing a level, or a game over, with the level, game mode, score, and date and time

Pilot names, leaderboard entries, and public Versus Challenges are visible to other players in the app.

Information Collected by Third Parties

We use Google AdMob to display advertisements in the game. AdMob may collect and process certain data for ad serving purposes, including:

  • Device identifiers (Advertising ID)
  • Device information (model, OS version)
  • IP address
  • Ad interaction data
  • General location (country/region level)

Local Data Usage

  • Game Functionality: To save your progress, high scores, and local leaderboard

We do not sell, trade, or transfer your personal information to third parties. The only data sharing that occurs is:

  • Other Players: Your pilot name, leaderboard entries, and public Versus Challenges are visible to other players in the app

5. Children’s Privacy

Alien Space Lasers is suitable for all ages. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13. Our game:

  • Does not require account creation
  • Does not ask for your real name or email
  • Lets players choose a pilot name that other players can see, so players should not use their real name
  • Only displays age-appropriate advertisements
  • Stores game progress and settings locally on the device, and stores online feature data as described in this policy

Google AdMob is configured to serve only child-appropriate ads when appropriate, in compliance with COPPA (Children’s Online Privacy Protection Act).

6. Your Privacy Choices

Limiting Ad Tracking

You can limit ad tracking on your iOS device:

  1. Open Settings app
  2. Go to Privacy & Security
  3. Tap Tracking
  4. Toggle off Allow Apps to Request to Track

Deleting Game Data

To delete locally stored game data (scores, settings, local leaderboard):

  1. Delete the Alien Space Lasers app from your device
  2. All locally stored data will be permanently removed

Note: We cannot help you recover deleted local data since it only exists on your device. Deleting the app does not remove data stored online, such as your pilot name, leaderboard entries, Versus Challenges, or feedback. To ask about removing it, email admin@copistudios.net.

Removing Ads

You can remove banner ads by purchasing the “Remove Ads” option in the game’s settings (when available).

7. Data Security

Since your game progress and settings are stored locally on your device using iOS’s secure UserDefaults system, the security of that data depends on your device’s security settings. We recommend:

  • Keeping your device’s iOS updated
  • Using a passcode or biometric lock
  • Being cautious about device access

8. International Users

Alien Space Lasers is available worldwide. If you’re outside the United States, please note that online game data is stored in the United States, and Google AdMob may process data in various countries as part of their global ad network. Refer to Google’s privacy policy for more information about international data transfers.

9. Changes to This Privacy Policy

We may update this privacy policy occasionally to reflect changes in our practices or for legal reasons. We will notify you of significant changes by:
